Project funding

Funding for dissemination and project development

In addition to our two ordinary grant-application rounds each year, NORA’s by-laws permit us to offer what are known as a chairmanship grants. According to our by-laws: “The Committee may delegate decision-making authority to the main secretariat, which in consultation with the chairman of the Committee may grant amounts of up to DKK 60,000 per project, though with a maximum total amount of DKK 240,000 per year. The Committee is informed in each case.”

These types of grants are primarily intended for two types of projects. The first is projects that: a) aim to build networks and partnerships in connection with a possible application for NORA funding. Grants for this purpose are to be used to support establishment of the partnership.

or

b) require funding for activities that would be preferable to begin before a decision can be made about their application. Situations in which a grant could be made prior to the application round being completed include projects that would face considerable delays due to the forecasted onset of unfavourable weather or projects involving seasonal biological activities such as sowing and harvesting.

The other type of project that can apply for a chairmanship grant are those that have obtained a normal grant and are either completed or are in the final phase and are looking for supplementary funding to disseminate their results. Dissemination can occur in any number forms, including film, conference-participation (in the form a presentation or a poster), open-access journal articles (with the funding being used to defray the cost of providing open access). When applying for a chairmanship grant for a dissemination project, the applicant is asked to identify the results / insights that will be disseminated, how they will be disseminated and the amount of money required.

If you would like to apply for a chairmanship grant, please contact the main secretariat to request an application form.

There is no application deadline for this this type of grant; NORA does its best to respond to applications within 14 days.
